How to Reduce Frequency of Email Checks in Different Email Clients
Our shared hosting servers limit IMAP/POP3 email checks to 100 per hour. Exceeding this limit by having your email client check more frequently can negatively impact server performance and may result in your IP address being blocked by the firewall.
You can find instructions on how to adjust the frequency of email checks based on the specific email client you are using:
- Open your Outlook application.
- Press the Ctrl + Alt + S keyboard shortcut (Note: This works for all Microsoft Outlook versions except for Microsoft Outlook for OS X).
- Set how often you want Outlook to check emails in the "Schedule an automatic send/receive every X minutes" line.
- Close the window to save your settings.
- Open Outlook.
- Go to the Tools menu.
- Click on the Accounts button.
- Click on the Advanced button in the window that appears.
- Locate the "Sync all IMAP folders every X minutes" line in the pop-up window.
