Wordpress Installation and Configuration

You can easily install WordPress by using its automatic installation:

  1. Connect to your cPanel.
  2. Under Software, click on Fantastico (or Softaculous).
  3. In the list of applications, under Blogs, click on WordPress.
  4. Click on New Installation (Install).
  5. If you have several domains, choose the one you want to use under Install on domain (Choose Domain); otherwise, the default domain will be selected.
  6. Under Install in directory (In Directory), specify the name of the folder in which you want to install WordPress. For instance, if you type "wpress", you will access WordPress on your site by typing the following address: http://yourdomain.com/wpress (replace yourdomain.com with your domain name).
  7. Under Admin access data (Admin Account), fill in the Administrator-username (Admin Username) and Password (Admin Password) fields. It is strongly recommended not to leave these fields blank, otherwise anyone will have access to your WordPress tools.
  8. Fantastico: In the Base configuration section, you will find four fields. Admin nickname allows you to type a nickname that will be displayed to your visitors when you post content. Admin e-mail specifies the email address to which will be sent administrative emails. By default, your account email is displayed (user@yourdomain.com). Make sure that you have access to this address, otherwise change it to one that is accessible to you. The Site name field allows you to specify the title of your WordPress site. By default, your domain name is displayed. The Description field will contain a short description of the blog, which will be displayed under the previously specified site name. Note that the two last fields, Site name and Description, will be displayed as headers in all of your blog pages.

Softaculous: The Site Name field is the title of your WordPress site. By default, "My Blog" is displayed. The Site Description field contains a short description of the blog. It will be displayed under the previously specified site name. Note that these two fields, Site Name and Site Description, will be displayed as headers in all of your blog pages.
  9. Click on the Install WordPress (Install) button.
  10. Fantastico: To complete the installation, click on Finish installation. Once the installation is complete, additional information concerning your administrator access will be displayed.
